To demonstrate how intentional vocabulary-building, explicit oracy instruction and carefully integrated AI tools can elevate students’ language proficiency and help them develop as erudite, articulate learners.
Objective 1 – Strengthen educators’ understanding of vocabulary development
Participants will understand how tiered vocabulary, word consciousness and exposure to rich language input contribute to long-term lexical growth.
Objective 2 – Equip teachers with practical classroom strategies
Participants will gain a range of in-class methods for explicitly teaching vocabulary, modelling refined diction and embedding oracy.
Objective 3 – Showcasing effective AI integration
Participants will explore AI tools that support vocabulary acquisition and articulate expression, including prompt design for language refinement, AI-assisted reading tasks and adaptive practice.
Objective 4 – Promote culturally responsive language growth.
Participants will learn how to incorporate texts, stories and examples that reflect diverse identities and linguistic backgrounds while still enriching diction.
Workshop Leader
Aderemi Adekunle
I am an educator of over ten years, specialising in the teaching of English. Out of those 10 years, I have spent 6 as a Head of English. My previous roles include Associate Head of House, Second in Charge and Associate Assistant Headteacher. I have a Masters in Teaching, fuelled by my zeal for ever innovating my pedagogy. I would describe my teaching philosophy as one of relentless ambition and learning without limits for all. Whichever learner you place in front of me, my goal is for them to exceed their own expectations and mine, which are already high. As well as teaching, I have previously delivered a Ted Talk on Cultural Belonging as well as ‘The Power of Storytelling in the Age of AI’ at The Middle East Language and Literacy Conference 2025.
