Harkness: An Innovative Approach to Enhancing Linguistic Fluency (Oracy) in Teaching Arabic to Native and Non-Native Speakers – Dr Ayman Moussa 

The workshop addresses the challenges faced by Arabic language teachers—both for native and non-native speakers—in developing students’ speaking skills. It explores the reasons behind these obstacles and provides solutions to enhance students’ linguistic and oral (Oracy)fluency through the Harkness technique (the round table). This involves practicing speaking boldly and expressing opinions on real-life topics, which in turn strengthens speaking skills among learners and makes it a natural habit

Dr Ayman Moussa 

Dr. Ayman Hamed Ahmed Mousa is an Associate Professor in Linguistics and Applied Linguistics. He has taught in universities across Egypt, the UAE, Malaysia, and France. He contributed to the Al Ain Arabic Proficiency Test and has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals. A specialist in teaching Arabic to non-native speakers, he has led training programs, developed curricula, and participated in international conferences. He is a member of several global language and education organizations, with research interests spanning Arabic language pedagogy, educational technology, computational linguistics, and curriculum development.
