Creativity is an attitude towards life. Creativity can be defined as an act or process that supports novelty, constant change in our daily lives and the letting go of the mundane processes by adding a spark, value and a production of ideas. Creativity encompasses an everyday phenomenon which fosters critical thinking skills and challenge within the mundane. Creativity is thinking out of the box. It is absolutely important for educators to share their personal stories of creativity because it allows fellow teachers encouragement and confidence to be able to take risks. Sharing experiences helps understand the ‘what ifs’ in early years teaching. The ‘what ifs’ of possibility. Letting the children maximize their choices by allowing free play within the school day. I characterize the micro-moments as the ‘aha moments’ because these moments define creative potential. Creativity for me is open-ended play in early years. With this presentation I will be talking to fellow educators about the creative curriculum, creative assessment and creative failure in education.
